Two Months

A lot has been going on since Finley's birth! My 8 weeks of maternity leave flew by. Finley has grown into such a cute little baby. She is starting to talk, smile, and laugh. And she is a trooper. We went to Nashvillie for ten days to see Grandpa and Grammie for Christmas. Thats an eight hour drive! We were home for five days and left for Houston so Brian could start his job. The three of us lived in a hotel room for two weeks! Then Finley had her first plane ride... she liked it. I was a little nervous since it was just the two of us. But we survived. So now we are back home without Brian, waiting to move to Houston officially. We've had a blood-in-the-poop scare but the doctor says she's okay. She is now 9lbs 13.5 oz- 25th percentile. She's little. But she's 23in long- 75th percentile. She's going to be tall like her parents maybe! Here are some pics!

She's Here!

Finley Parker has finally arrived! She decided to come early and it is quite the story. Brian and I went to the Razorback basketball game Friday night after eating out with Betty and Lee. I was having really bad gas pains and just uncomfortable. I made Brian walk around the arena with me several times. By the time we got home and I took of my maternity jeans (that were too small), I felt a little better. Brian fixed me some hot chocolate and I fell asleep on the couch for about an hour. After that- no sleep. I kept thinking this is the worst gas I have ever had. It would come and go... About three in the morning, Brian asked if I thought it was labor. I laughed- its just sharp gas pains. We timed them anyways. They were three minutes apart and then would be ten minutes apart. I let Brian go to sleep at 4. Around 7, I woke him up so we could go to Walgreens and get me a suppository. I had to get the gas out! The pain started getting pretty intense. I started to worry that something could be wrong with my placenta. I was bleeding a little... Brian called his dad and his dad said I had to be in labor because gas pains don't last that long. I was unconvinced so I took another suppository and got in the shower. Around 930, Brian decided to go ahead and shower and get dressed. He then convinced me we should just go up to the hospital and see. So we packed the bags just in case, knowing we were going to return home. They set me up in a triage room. I told them I thought it was just gas. She checked me and said, Yep you're in labor- you are 6cm dilated, your bag of water is bulging and she could feel the baby's head. She couldn't believe I was 6cm and just coming in. I immediatelty asked for an epidural. 45 minutes later, I was set up in a room, getting the epidural, and already 8cm dilated. The nurses kept calling me brave for lasting that long- I said not brave, stupid. She progressed quickly, I only pushed for about 35 minutes- and out she came! By the time we left the hospital, word had spread about the girl who thought she had gas and was in labor. Finley Parker Henderson was born at 4:58pm, 6lbs 15oz, 20 inches. And she has hair like her mother!

36 weeks!

Today I had my 36 week check up. I actually only have 27 more days left until my due date! YAY! Things are getting uncomfortable- heartburn, running out of breath, sleepless nights. I am not swelling up too much so that is good. Official weight gain- 29 pounds. This checkup started my weekly appointments until Finley arrives. My cervix will get checked each time. I am 1cm dilated. Dr. Collins said this is good news that I am already dilated. If I don't go into labor the week of my due date, they will induce me on Friday, December 4th. And still no stretch marks so far- knock on wood! Here is a belly update. Sorry I don't get anymore ultrasounds!

Baby Shower

Tonight I had a baby shower with the girls! It was so much fun! We went to Bonefish Grill- yum! I got a lot of great gifts that are so special. I am just so thankful for all the wonderful girls in my life. We played some fun shower games. We had to put a diaper on a stuffed monkey blindfolded. I did the worst out of everyone! My diaper was hanging off- poor Finley. Here are some great pictures!

Health

I received a phone call from my doctor's office Tuesday. My antibodies screening came back negative so I needed to come in for another RhoGAM shot. Also, there was concern over other test results. I went in this morning at 9am. My platelet count had dropped from 212,000 to 186,000. These results mean that I have gestational thrombocytopenia. This happens in about 8% of all pregnancy. My counts just need to stay about 150,000. My doctor is not concerned unless they drop below 100,000. If this happens, I won't be able to have an epidural. Sometimes c-sections are talked about to control excessive bleeding at birth. I did read about there being a possible risk for Finley during birth, having trauma to the head with bleeding. This is only with ITP, with I don't have. So that is a relief. On a brighter note- I have gained two pounds since last week! YAY!

Preggo Update

I had a dr appt on Wednesday. Everything looks good. Finley's heart rate was 144. She was super active of course- when the dr first put the heart monitor on my stomach all you could hear was her jumping around. My belly measured between 26 and 27 weeks. I am 27 weeks (Casey- that means 6 almost 7 months) this past Saturday so that wasn't bad. The only thing is the doctor said I needed to gain more weight. So far, I have gained 14 pounds, which is apparently a little under where I need to be. I eat all the time. My dr suggested eating several meals a day since I have such a high metabolism. Finley is kicking up a storm! Brian gets freaked out when he sees my stomach move. I also had my glucose testing done to see if I have gestational diabetes. They said it would take 1-3 days to receive the results and they would only call if my levels were too high or too low. Today is day three and no phone call! YAY! Brian and I are just busy preparing to move. We have the house on the market ourselves. Pray we can sell it before the baby comes. I have been asked to give a belly update so here it is!
